Handloom Lungi weaves by a person manually. It takes more time to weave. So Price is high. The fabrics are skin-friendly.
In a handloom, the weavers stretch a lungi on both ends with a tool called “Tana” which has needles or similar kinds of pins on it. Generally, the handloom lungis are costlier in comparison to the ones woven by power loom.
These needles or pins keep the lungi in place so that the weaver can weave the lungi smoothly. And it is because of these very needles that the handloom lungis acquire those fine holes, absent in power loom lungis.
